MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Some 36.8% of housing commissioned in Belarus in January-May 2019 is meant for people on the waiting lists for subsidized housing as part of the government's affordable housing program, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.
Developers of all forms of ownership built 13,100 new apartments and commissioned 1,240,800 square meters of total floor space. Some 456,600 square meters of housing (or 36.8% of all commissioned housing) was designated for people on the waiting list. The construction of 321,300 square meters of housing for people on the waiting list was subsidized by the government.
Some 440,200 square meters of housing was commissioned in rural communities (35.5% of all housing commissioned in Belarus).
