“In the 2022/2023 academic year we are hosting the fifth national competition of professional skills. We started with 20 skills in 2014 and made it to 49 skills by 2023. These competences cover the priority activities for the country's economy. More than 300 participants will take part in the competition, including those from the CIS countries - Russia and Kazakhstan. This year 42 skills will be presented on the football arena and seven more – at different venues. Information Network Cabling will be taking place at the Belarusian Academy of Communications, Autobody Repair – at a branch of Vysotsky Minsk State Automechanical College. The competence center of Gomel State Automobile and Mechanical College, where a new laboratory fitted with modern equipment has been recently launched, will host Turning and Milling. Keeping in mind the volume and labor intensity of the tasks in these areas, the first competition day for the participants has begun today before the official opening so that the participants had time to perform all the necessary modules,” Valery Golubovsky said.

Cooking, Restaurant Service and Bakery will be held at the Slutsk State College which has a competence center with all necessary equipment. “The remoteness of the venue does not mean that visitors to the competition areas in the football arena will not see the demonstration of these three skills. They will be demonstrated on screens online. The panel of judges will include more than 300 experts from among educators and company specialists,” the rector added.

This year the number of skills for people with disabilities has been significantly expanded. The InclusiveSkills block will include seven skills: Fashion Technology, Web Technologies, Graphic Design Technology, System Administration, and a number of new ones - Painting and Decorating, Green Building Worker, Vegetable Grower.
