MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – There are more than 121,000 families raising three or more children in Belarus, Deputy Labor and Social Security Minister Valery Kovalkov told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“The number of families with three or more children keeps rising. As of today, there are already more than 121,000 such families. Families with three children account for more than 80% of this number. The largest family has 13 children. This family lives in Brest Oblast,” said Valery Kovalkov.

The system of social services is being improved. “Since January 2021, more population groups can get babysitting services free of charge. These are all families raising a disabled child under the age of 18 (provided the child is home-schooled), as well as families where both parents or the only parent have the first or second disability groups and raise a child under the age of 6. We have plans to scale up this service since it is quite in demand,” he noted.
