Opinion: Truth has prevailed over post-truth in the hardest fight

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) - Truth has prevailed over post-truth in the hardest fight, Belarus' Information Minister Igor Lutsky said at the plenary session of the 7th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

“Today truth is an extremely important and in-demand information product. It is becoming more difficult to promote it in the media market. We have already witnessed numerous information attacks on our countries. The recent events in Belarus is the most vivid example of how powerful and destructive these attacks can be for the society. The main thing is that truth has prevailed over post-truth in the hardest fight. We should understand, however, that the Belarusian case incited by external and domestic ill-wishers is nothing but a test case against Russia, a trial run of a new type of information war,” Igor Lutsky said.

The minister suggested taking the issue of information security of the media sector and the Union State very seriously. He stressed that the time has come to fight back and counterattack decisively.

“We are ready to discuss ways of ensuring common security of the media sector, first of all, in the context of responding to external information aggression and ensuring media support of each other. We share common values, a common vision of the future, and a great cultural and historical background. We must protect all this. Let us counteract destructive post-truth with our common constructive truth,” Igor Lutsky said.
