Opinion: Belarus and Russia have a common vector of development

POLOTSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The affinity of cultures lies at the heart of tight cooperation and the common vector of development of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from Anton Podkovenko, a reporter of the TV channel Russia 24, in Polotsk on a media trip.

The reporter stressed: “The affinity of cultures lies at the heart of tight cooperation between Belarus and Russia. It represents the solid foundation, on which the Union State rests. In the geopolitical context the Union State members support the same views. Our leaders talk about it all the time. It is understandable that there are some minor issues, but they are addressed in a routine manner. We have a common vector of development.”

It was the third time the reporter had come to Belarus. A media trip three years ago was the previous time. “The impressions I got back them are getting stronger this time. I am pleased to see clean and accomplished population centers and comfortable conditions for people's life. Those are distinguishing traits of modern Belarus,” Anton Podkovenko noted.

About 100 people, who represent Russian regional and federal mass media, mass media of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, experts and bloggers from Moscow, St Petersburg, Tambov, Bryansk, Tula, Smolensk, and other cities and regions of Russia, are in Belarus on a media trip on 11-14 December.

Anton Podkovenko said he was looking forward to visiting Minsk Arena and the Hi-Tech Park in Minsk. “I would like to compare it to our Skolkovo,” he added.
