Next meeting of trilateral contact group on Ukraine to be replaced with video conference

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA – TASS) - The next meeting of the contact group on the settlement in eastern Ukraine will be replaced with a video conference over the novelcoronavirus, representative of the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) in the working group on political affairs Rodion Miroshnik said in his Telegram channel.

“The meeting of the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass will be replaced with a video conference. Meetings of the working groups will be held as scheduled, from Monday to Wednesday. The results of the meetings will be summed up at the meeting of the contact group which is scheduled for Thursday,” he said.

Earlier, Kiev's representative in the working group on political affairs, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov also said that the meeting of the contact group scheduled for 25 March could be held via a video conference because of the new coronavirus.

During the previous meeting of the contact group on 11 March, a tentative agreement was reached to set up a new settlement mechanism, an advisory board, which would become a dialogue platform with the participation of the Normandy Format countries and parties to the conflict. It is expected that the decision to establish this board can be confirmed at the meeting of the contact group on 25 March. The Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics viewed this decision as Kiev's consent to direct dialogue.
