Newly elected Belarusian MPs encouraged to speak up

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Newly elected members of the Belarusian parliament should be more noticeable and should more actively express their opinions, BelTA learned from the political analyst Vadim Borovik.

The expert said: “It is a distinguishing trait of the Belarusian parliament that both chambers are capable of having a constructive dialogue with each other. There is rather tight cooperation in the course of development of new legislation. It is our competitive advantage. What should the new composition of the parliament be like? In my opinion, instead of focusing solely on the lawmaking process the MPs should be more noticeable, more active. They should not be afraid of expressing their views.”

In his words, Belarusian voters choose the candidates to vote for with their eyes open. They vote for candidates able to contribute something constructive instead of offering generic platitudes. “On the whole, as a voter I am satisfied with the election campaign,” the political analyst said.
