More vigorous cooperation between individual Russian, Belarusian universities encouraged

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – It is necessary to step up educational cooperation between Belarus and Russia at the level of concrete schools and universities. Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich made the statement on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “For some reason there is a gap now. We've made all the decisions at the republican level and Russia has made all the decisions at the federal level. All the documents have been signed. But it is necessary to get schools and universities to work with other schools and universities not like with foreign institutions. Then it will be much easier to address all the other matters of sociopolitical nature.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich was quoted earlier as saying that Belarus and Russia should launch a program of academic and youth exchange at the expense of the budget of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
