MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) - A two-day regional seminar of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will open in Minsk on 30 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The main theme of the event, to be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is “Using efficient methods to counteract sexual exploitation and human trafficking in the light of new technologies”. The seminar will be opened by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko of Belarus, OSCE Coordinator of Activities to Address Transnational Threats , OSCE Acting Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Valiant Richey, Acting Special Representative/Coordinator of the OSCE to combat trafficking people Valiant Ritchie and deputy head of the office for drug control and combating human trafficking at the Belarusian Interior Affairs Ministry Dmitry Tsayun.
The regional seminar is timed to coincide with the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, which is marked annually by the international community on 30 July. This day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly, on the proposal of Belarus in 2013, with the aim of raising awareness of the situation of trafficking victims and promoting and protecting their rights.
