MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Minsk will play host to a visiting meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on 17-18 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
Parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states and invited foreign guests are expected to arrive in Minsk today. They are set to visit the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. The working day on 18 May will begin with bilateral meetings, followed by a flower ceremony at the Victory Monument.
The meeting is set to consider the status of the decisions of the November (2022) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, and the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility. The focus will be on the activities of Belarusian government agencies to ensure the stability of the socio-political and military situation, counter security challenges and threats in the context of implementing the priorities of the CSTO chairmanship in 2023.
Draft statements of the CSTO PA Council on the prevention of an arms race in outer space and on countering drug abuse among children and youth and promoting their healthy lifestyles will be submitted for discussion.
The amendments to the program of activities of the CSTO PA for the approximation and harmonization of the national legislation of the CSTO member states for 2021-2025 and many other items will be on the agenda of the meeting.
