Minsk to host Azerbaijani Culture Festival, Day of India in September

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – The Minsk Upper Town will host the Azerbaijani Culture Festival and the Day of India on 22-23 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk City Hall.

Minsk citizens and guests of the capital will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the vibrant culture of Azerbaijan on 22 September. The guests will enjoy folk dances, the backgammon game, fascinating master classes and a concert program. The organizers prepared a special offer: the first 100 visitors of the festival will be treated to pilaf for free. The guests will also taste other dishes of Azerbaijan national cuisine, for example, lamb kebabs, traditional sweets and pomegranate wine.

The program also includes contests, thematic quizzes with prizes. The main prize is a trip to Fabulous Baku for two. The concert program will feature Azerbaijani and Belarusian singers. Among them are Samir Jafarov, Lala Mamedova, Cahangir Qurbanov, Gunesh Abasova, Ruslan Aslanov, Helena Meraai and others.

Every guest will be able to dance lezginka, decorate their bodies with henna, and take part in a thematic quest. The youngest guests will enjoy entertainment zones with an art bar, trampolines, a contact zoo, face painting and soap bubbles. A spectacular fire show will wrap up the festival.

The organizers of the festival are the Minsk City Hall and the international public association “Congress of Azerbaijani communities” of Belarus with the assistance of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Belarus.

The Day of India will be held on 23 September. A group directed by Mukundan Teruvat will present kalaripayattu, an Indian ancient martial art. The famous Indian storyteller Seema Anand from London will tell stories from the Indian mythology and literature. The guests will have an opportunity to listen to Indian fairy tales, watch cartoons and paint collages.

The event will also feature an Indian fashion show, yoga and meditation master classes, cooking lessons, mehendi painting. The guests will be able to take part in sports games, taste Indian and vegetarian cuisine, buy tea, spices, cosmetics and souvenirs.

The organizers of the Day of India are the Indian Embassy and the Minsk City Hall.
