Minsk European Games attendance at 88%

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – The attendance at the 2nd European Games in Minsk came at 88%, Ticketpro Director General Kirill Sushchinsky told journalists in the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus had never hosted such large-scale events before, that is why the ticket plan for the 2nd European Games was new to us. Belarusian companies came up with the design and 13 security levels for the tickets. They went on sale on 1 December 2018. The last ticket was bought on 30 June 2019. The 2nd European Games drew 232,000 sport fans, the attendance rate was at 88%. Tickets to 62 events sold out,” Kirill Sushchinsky said.

He also noted that the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games sold 17,500 tickets, and the closing ceremony 18,700 tickets. Kirill Sushchinsky said that tickets to seats with obstructed view were not available for sale to ensure comfort of all spectators.

The Minsk European Games Organizing Committee paid special attention to people with disabilities. “We had trained volunteers to work with such people, we tried to respond to their requests and provide comfortable seats for them at the sports venues,” Maksim Koshkalda, head of marketing and advertising at MEGOC, said.

The 2nd European Games were held in Minsk on 21-30 June. Athletes competed for 200 medal sets in 15 sports. Belarusian athletes placed second in the medal table with 69 medals.
