Minsk book fair to feature over 50 publishers from Russia

MOSCOW, 22 March (BelTA) - More than 50 publishing houses of Russia will display their most popular books at the 29th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair, which will open in the Belarusian capital on 23 March, BelTA learned from the Directorate of the Moscow International Book Fair, which acts as the operator of the Books of Russia program at the Minsk International Book Fair.

"The Books of Russia exposition will become a navigator throughout the Russian part of the book fair in Minsk and will present one main book from each publisher selected by their publishers specifically for Belarusian readers," the directorate said. “Book of Russia will organize meet-the-writer events with Anna Matveeva, Elena Usacheva, Olga Savelyeva, Alina Aksenova, Vladislav Gaidukevich, Andrei Land, Dmitry Likhanov, Yulia Mnizhek, Dmitry Gusev, Oleg Fochkin.”

Moscow Polytechnic University has prepared an online tour of the Museum of the History of Printing, Book Publishing and the Ivan Fedorov Moscow State University of Printing. It will be conducted by creative director of the university Ekaterina Khokhlogorskaya. The museum collection has almost 23,000 items: handwritten and first printed books, one of the first reprints of Ivan Fedorov's "Apostle", centennial reprints of The Vedomosti newspaper, rare books of the 18th -20th centuries and more than 70 printing presses of the 19th - 20th centuries. The tour will be interactive. Participants are in for a fascinating story about the history of printing and the media, a quiz and memorable gifts.

The children's part of the Russian exposition will feature a collection of the modern visual literature festival "Books in the City". This exhibition of illustrated books about real and imagined cities and their inhabitants is designed to teach children how to tell fascinating stories about themselves and their city.

The Books of Russia program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
