Ministry: Over 1,200 Belarusian tourists remain abroad

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – A total of 1,237 Belarusians, who have gone abroad through travel agencies, are still there, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.

Some ten days ago there were about 8,000 Belarusian tourists abroad. “We have brought the majority of our nationals home thanks to the joint efforts of the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Transport and Communications Ministry, travel agencies and permanent contacts with the Russian side,” the ministry said.

The most complicated situation is that with tourists that are currently in India (Goa) and Sri Lanka. Some results have been achieved, however. “In agreement with the Ukrainian side, eight Belarusian citizens flew to the Ukrainian capital by SkyUp's Colombo-Kiev flight. Our people will be able to get home via Ukraine,” the ministry said.
