Measures to develop innovative system in Belarus in 2020 approved

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – A set of measures to develop the national innovative system in 2020 has been approved by the Council of Ministers' resolution No.53 of 29 January 2020, the press service of the Belarus government told BelTA.

A number of measures are designed to accelerate the development of high-tech branches of the national economy. Plans have been made to prepare proposals on developing systems, equipment, and materials for 3D printing, autonomous electric transport (tractors, harvesters, haul trucks, regular trucks, and municipal vehicles), robot technology products, and high-technology medical goods.

The government intends to improve the system of financing and stimulating R&D and innovative efforts. The replenishment and use of innovative funds may be adjusted. Government agencies will have to take measures to increase extrabudgetary spending on scientific research and development.

The document will encourage innovative entrepreneurship and the development of investment activities in the sphere of R&D and innovations. The Hi-Tech Park and the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone will be developed as platforms for setting up enterprises.

A draft program on innovative development in Belarus in 2021-2025 is supposed to be brought in to the Council of Ministers in Q4 2020.

The State Science and Technology Committee has been instructed to work to improve Belarus' standing in the Global Innovation Index.
