Maslenitsa Festival in Minsk on 28 February-1 March

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Food and Spring Festival Maslenitsa will be held at Komarovsky marketplace in Minsk on 28 February-1 March, the organizers told BelTA.

“The square near Komarovsky marketplace will turn into a real fair with pancakes cooked according to unique recipes, folk music, games and entertainment and a lot of interesting things,” the organizers said.

The entertainment program will feature round dances, tug-of-war, sack racing, skipping and other sports games and competitions. The performances of artists and theatrical performances are also planned. Songs and ditties will be sung with live music. Entertainers, photo zones and fire-show “Farewell to winter” will create a special atmosphere.

There will be a food court where visitors can treat themselves not only to traditional pancakes with sour cream, caviar or honey, but also to colorful pancakes with exotic fillings – spicy, beet, with shrimps, pine cones or dandelions jam. Fresh pastries, sweets, kvass and sbiten will be also on the menu.

Visitors will be able to buy souvenirs made by local artisans in memory of the festival.

The event is supported by the administration of Sovetsky District of Minsk and the Minsk City Hall.
