Lukashenko awarded by CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has received the highest award of the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders, Colonel General Aleksandr Manilov, deputy chairman of the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders – chairman of the Coordination Service, told reporters, BelTA informs.

“Following the resolution of the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders, the Belarusian president has received the highest award of the council which was instituted by the heads of state. This is a lapel badge “Distinguished Border Guard of the Commonwealth of Independent States”. The awards ceremony will be held later,” Aleksandr Manilov said.

In his words, Aleksandr Lukashenko is the first leader to receive the award. It is presented in recognition of a big contribution to the enhancement of border security, personal courage in the organization of state border protection.

A lapel badge “Distinguished Border Guard of the Commonwealth of Independent States” was instituted by the resolution of the CIS Council of Heads of State as of 5 October 2007.

Besides, the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders awarded a number of high-ranking border guard officers and other servicemen.

The 82nd session of the CIS Council of Border Guard Commanders took place in Minsk on 17 October.
