MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) - The CIS observation mission at the constitutional referendum in Uzbekistan will be led by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev. The decision was made at a joint session of the CIS Representatives Council and the Commission on Economic Issues at the CIS Economic Council in Minsk on 30 March, BelTA has learned.
The constitutional referendum in Uzbekistan is scheduled for 30 April.
According to Sergei Lebedev, the CIS observation mission will start its work in Uzbekistan on 12 April. “We suppose that the mission will not be large - about 50 people. It will be of high level as always: MPs of CIS countries, members and heads of the Central Election Committee, diplomats, employees of the CIS Executive Committee with rich experience in monitoring elections and referendums in the CIS,” he said.
