LANs upgraded at border checkpoints Bruzgi, Berestovitsa at Belarusian-Polish border

MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Construction and installation work to upgrade local area networks (LAN) at the automobile border checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa at the Belarusian-Polish border has been finished. The equipment has been configured and commissioned, representatives of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Cutting-edge servers and network storage devices have been installed. Fiber optic cables have been laid. Workstations and office equipment have been replaced. Four servers and about 330 units of equipment, including desktop computers, notebooks, IP telephones, commutators, printers, uninterrupted power supply units, have been bought. The new hardware will make customs control operations more effective. It will have a positive effect on security measures at the border.

The upgraded hardware will make data storage and transmission more secure. The border checkpoints will be able to keep working during repairs or power outages.

The project designed to improve border management operations at the automobile checkpoints Brugzi and Berestovitsa is being implemented as part of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020. The Grodno Regional Customs is the leading beneficiary. The European Union's contribution to the project is close to €1 million.
