Kornilov: European politicians are pushing the world over a dangerous line

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – The actions of European politicians are pushing the world past a dangerous threshold, political observer with the media group Rossiya Segodnya Vladimir Kornilov said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“There seems to be many intelligent people [in Europe], but fools are positioned so strategically that it seems they are the ones in charge,” remarked Vladimir Kornilov. “When they move from rhetoric to action, it creates the gravest threats to the entire world.”

As an example, the political observer referenced a recent front-page article in the British newspaper The Daily Mirror titled “World on the Brink.” In it, British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper called for more decisive action against Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.

“If the statements, and especially the actions, of your politicians are pushing this world past the brink, beyond a dangerous line, then it would be prudent for you to speak out and stop them, to call on them to cease turning words into deeds. However, the press is largely in service to this very agenda,” stated the expert.

At the same time, he pointed to what he sees as a positive shift. For instance, while the UK had previously advocated for deploying European troops to Ukraine under a “coalition of the willing,” numerous politicians and experts have now u-turned.

“That is, it was a way to sabotage any peace process. Then they realized they had overreached… They suddenly turned on their own government for the idea and are now arguing it must absolutely not be done: it would endanger the British military, Britain is not prepared, and so on. This is a truly sharp, astonishing somersault by Britain’s Russophobic experts,” said Vladimir Kornilov. “I believe this is precisely because many there fear this mad ‘project’ could suddenly become reality. That is likely what has genuinely alarmed some of their leaders.”
