MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – The nationwide campaign Belaya Rus - With Love to Children is currently underway in Belarus, BelTA has learned.
In every region of the country government officials, MPs, heads of the local authorities and representatives of the Belaya Rus public association visit new mothers to extend them warmest wishes and give them gifts.
Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova visited the National Research Center Mother and Child. She said she was sincerely happy to once again take part in the campaign and meet new mothers, especially those who had a baby on 3 July, the country's Independence Day. This year this joyous event coincided with the anniversary date – the 75th anniversary of the country's liberation from German fascist invaders.
“It is a big day not just for the new mothers who had their bundle of joy. It is a big day for all of us because we want us, Belarusians, to be more. Children are the future of our country. This is what we live for,” Natalya Kochanova said.
The state makes every effort to support young families and families with children, the head of the President Administration said. The family capital program has proved its worth and will be extended for the next five years.
Chairman of the Belaya Rus national public association Gennady Davydko believes that the birth of a child is the most important event in the life of any woman. “You raise children in the beautiful country which has a great, happy future. We do everything to make sure such future is a reality,” he said.
A total of 189 children were born on 3 July in Belarus. Two mothers had twins. Sixty-five children were born in Minsk on the Independence Day: 36 boys and 29 girls.
With regard to large families, their number increases. Five years ago there were 78,000 large families in the country. According to the latest data, today this number exceeds 110,000.
The nationwide campaign “Belaya Rus – With Love to Children” was launched in 2009. More than 3,000 young mothers received presents as part of the campaign across the country.
