MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - The MILEX expo has become not only a significant event for defense sector organizations, but also an effective forum for the development of military and military-technical cooperation between states and international organizations, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said at the opening of the 11th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023 on 17 May, BelTA has learned.
“Over the years, the MILEX exhibition has established itself not only as a significant event for defense sector organizations, but also as an effective forum for the development of military and military-technical cooperation between states and international organizations. The international exhibition is rightfully considered an authoritative and recognizable platform for experts to discuss armaments, demonstrate the latest military products and conclude mutually beneficial contracts,” Viktor Khrenin said.
According to the defense minister, despite the difficult military and political situation, the guests of the event include representatives from almost all regions of the world. “This eloquently demonstrates that our country has many allies, partners and like-minded people on different continents. They, like our country, continue to defend the national interests of their states, defending their sovereignty and the right to choose both their own path of development and cooperation vectors, based on traditions, identity and mentality, and most importantly, the interests of their peoples,” he stressed.
At the large-scale arms show taking place in Belarus the expert community and the public can see not only a wide range of fundamentally new, most advanced high-tech weaponry, but also durable, reliable armaments. “Some of them were developed at the end and even in the middle of the twentieth century, but have not yet exhausted their inherent potential and resource. After deep modernization and adaptation to modern conditions of armed struggle they have significantly increased their combat effectiveness, operational characteristics and ergonomics,” Viktor Khrenin concluded.
Minsk is hosting the 11th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023 and the international conference on defense and security on 17-20 May. The expo runs thematic sections across the whole range of defense and security technologies.
The organizers are the State Authority for Military Industry, the Defense Ministry of Belarus, Belexpo National Exhibition Center, and the Belarus President Property Management Directorate.
