MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian military are ready to work together with their Polish counterparts to maintain security in the region, said Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.
The defense minister spoke about the situation around Belarus. According to him, the bilateral comprehensive exercise that began in the Armed Forces of Belarus on 22 September is taking place against the backdrop of a difficult military and political situation.
“Our neighbors use every newsworthy event to build up troop presence near our border. We see the increasing intensity of operational and combat training and infrastructure capacity building. This rings alarm bells to us. In the language of intelligence officers it sounds like: “Preparations for war are underway,” Viktor Khrenin is convinced.
The defense minister noted that Belarus is demonstrating its openness. “We invited our Polish colleagues to attend the CSTO exercise. And we still say that we are ready to interact with the Polish military as part of efforts to ensure security in our region,” emphasized Viktor Khrenin.
