Today Belarus is paying tribute to the memory of the residents of the village of Khatyn, which was burned by the Nazis 80 years ago – on 22 March 1943. Remembering Khatyn, Belarusians remember thousands of other Belarusian villages destroyed by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
The new museum was built in the memorial complex by the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy upon the instruction of Aleksandr Lukashenko. Large-scale restoration works were carried out at the site as well.
