Israel asks Belarus for legal assistance in illegal migration case

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Israel has turned to Belarus for legal assistance in a criminal case related to illegal migration. The details were discussed at a meeting of the delegation of the Israel Police and representatives of the Belarusian Investigative Committee, BelTA learned from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

“This is not the first time our Israeli counterparts have asked the Belarusian Investigative Committee for legal assistance. Similar inquiries related to criminal cases were submitted and fulfilled before,” the Investigative Committee noted.

Apart from that, the Israeli delegation was informed about functions and tasks of the Belarusian Investigative Committee, the specifics of criminal proceedings in Belarus. For their part, representatives of the Israel Police told their Belarusian counterparts about the criminal process in Israel.

The parties reached a preliminary agreement to exchange visits to carefully study each other's best practices in criminal justice. Assessing preliminary results of the bilateral cooperation, representatives of the Israeli delegation praised high professional level of Belarusian investigators and expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation will maintain momentum.
