MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – A group of experts of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have arrived in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The IMO auditors will stay in Belarus till 16 November. They will assess the work of the Belarusian shipping industry and give recommendations.
Belarus joined the International Maritime Organization in 2016. As a specialized agency of the United Nations, IMO is the global standard-setting authority for the safety, security and environmental performance of international shipping. Its main role is to create a regulatory framework for the shipping industry that is fair and effective, universally adopted and universally implemented.
