MOGILEV, 25 April (BelTA) – The work to integrate the Belarusian nuclear power plant into the national power grid has reached its active phase, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich.
The official stressed that the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is the most important project for the country's power engineering industry. The nuclear power plant's integration into the power grid is the second most important one. Measures are being taken in anticipation of the nuclear power plant launch. Electric heaters are being installed and peak and backup energy sources are being constructed. Feasibility studies have been carried out for the sake of installing electric heaters. Architectural designs accommodating electric heaters have been made. Tenders have been held to install electric heaters in some places. In particular, this work will be finished at the Kostyukovichi cogeneration plant in Mogilev Oblast by the end of the year. Two electric heaters with the output capacity of 20MW each have been bought for cogeneration plant No.2 in Mogilev and two 15MW electric heaters have been bought for the Bobruisk cogeneration plant. They will be commissioned in Q1 2020.
“All the work to install electric heaters is supposed to be finished in 2020. Their installed capacity will be a total of 916MW, including 80MW already commissioned at a Gomel cogeneration plant. As for peak and backup energy sources, they are supposed to be commissioned in 2021 at the latest,” Viktor Karankevich said.
While in Mogilev Oblast the energy minister was also made familiar with the work of an agricultural enterprise of the Vendorozh branch of the Mogilev Oblast electric company Mogilevenergo. Viktor Karankevich also checked the progress of modernization of Mogilev cogeneration plant No.2.
