Independence Day parade to take place in Minsk on 3 July


MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – The Independence Day parade will be held in Minsk on 3 July, BelTA learnt from the Defense Ministry of Belarus.

The Minsk garrison will traditionally hold the parade at the Minsk Hero City complex. The parade will feature over 3,000 military men and more than 150 military vehicles.

The parade will be opened by cadets of the Minsk Suvorov Military School. The participants of the parade will carry the Victory Banner and the banners of the 1st Belarusian Front, the 2nd Belarusian Front, the 3rd Belarusian Front and the 1st Baltic Front – the armies that took part in the Belarusian Strategic Offensive Operation codenamed Operation Bagration. Taking part in the parade will be cadets of the Minsk Suvorov Military School, students of the Military Academy of Belarus, the military faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University, the military of the 120th guards separate mechanized brigade, 38th guards separate mobile brigade, 5th separate special mission brigade, the guards of honor, the orchestra of the Belarusian Armed Forces, Interior Ministry troops, military divisions of the State Border Committee and the Emergencies Ministry.

Taking part in the Independence Day parade will be paratroopers of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of Pskov. The division was founded in 1939 and is one of the oldest air assault divisions of Russia. Combatants of the division took part in the liberation of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. Russian paratroopers have taken part in the Independence Day parade in Belarus since 2011.

This year the parade will feature numerous veteran cars used during the Great Patriotic War and shortly afterwards, including IS-2 tank, T-34 tank as well as T-44 and PT-76 tanks.

The veteran cars will be followed by powerful armored vehicles, anti-aircraft systems, artillery mounts, and multiple artillery rocket systems used by the Armed Forces of Belarus.

After that the public will see aircrafts used by the air force and the air defense force of Belarus.

The military parade will be concluded by a show of the guards of honor and a concert of the orchestra of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
