Hospital admissions with COVID-19 pneumonia in Belarus 30% below autumn peak

MOSCOW, 13 December (BelTA) – The hospital admission rate of people diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia in Belarus is now 30% below the peak of the latest coronavirus wave, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told reporters at the collegium meeting of the healthcare ministries of Russia and Belarus in Moscow on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

“The number of confirmed cases and the hospital admission rate of people diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia in Belarus are now 30% below the peak of the latest coronavirus wave. Therefore, healthcare facilities are resuming en masse the provision of routine medical care in line with their specialization,” the minister said.

At the same time, Dmitry Pinevich noted that Belarus did not suspend the delivery of routine medical care during the pandemic. “I want to emphasize that we kept providing routine care even at the autumn peak of the coronavirus wave, the highest we have ever known,” he said.

The collegium meeting is taking place in Moscow on 13 December. Taking part in it are Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko and his Belarusian counterpart Dmitry Pinevich, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko. The main topic on the agenda is improvement of the quality control in healthcare.
