Hope coronavirus will not affect Slavianski Bazaar schedule

VITEBSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Preparations for the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk are carried out in a routine mode, but the sale of tickets for the Eurovision Stars project has been temporarily suspended, director of the festival and the Vitebsk Culture Center Gleb Lapitsky said at a briefing, BelTA has learned.

"The organizers are preparing the festival. None of our partners have any questions or doubts about this. We hope that the event will be held on time, without any delays and cancellations. You can see the emerging trend: most mass cultural events are postponed to May-June, which gives us the opportunity to hope for the best," Gleb Lapitsky said.

According to the head of the festival, all national selections for the festival's competitions have been completed by now. "We hope that the festival will be held on 13-21 July as planned," he said.

One project of the Slavianski Bazaar is in question - Eurovision Stars scheduled for 19 July. Ticket sales have been temporarily suspended. "We work directly with the European Broadcasting Union, which deals with the logistics of invited artists. Now we can't reveal their names (they are quite big), since the contract is not signed. We decided to suspend, but not to cancel the sale,” Gleb Lapitsky noted.

About 10,000 tickets have already been sold for the events of the Slavianski Bazaar. The event director advised those, who purchased the tickets, not to panic and not to return them. "You will not be able to buy tickets again at the original price, because the demand and price for any event that was canceled and returned is usually much higher. We do not recommend returning the tickets, though it is up to every person," he said.

Gleb Lapitsky added that there were no reports from the artists' managers about the cancellation of their participation in the festival. "On the contrary, everyone wants to keep in touch because of possible changes. The work goes in a normal mode. I hope we will not have to cancel everything. We will follow the situation, because no one can predict it," he stressed.
