Healthcare Ministry: Belarus fully provided with necessary drugs to treat COVID-19

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) - Belarus is fully provided with all necessary drugs to treat COVID-19, Belarus' Deputy Healthcare Minister Dmitry Cherednichenko said during an official event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Belarusian State Medical University, BelTA has learned.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still ongoing, we are fully provided with the necessary anti-COVID drugs. Most of them are made in Belarus. This speaks volumes," Dmitry Cherednichenko said.

According to him, the Belarusian pharmaceutical companies have a strong presence on the domestic market: Belpharmprom holding company, domestic enterprises, including joint ventures. Foreign production facilities are localized at Belarusian production sites as part of the import substitution effort. New drugs are marketed. "Most importantly, we ensure the availability of medicines, their quality, efficacy and safety. These are the main criteria that a modern pharmaceutical manufacturer must meet," the deputy minister said.

He added that the event to mark its 100th anniversary of Belarusian State Medical University kicked off with an exhibition of manufacturers of pharmaceutical products, medical products and services.

The celebrations will be taking place at Belarusian State Medical University through 17 December. The detailed program is available on the website of the university. The program includes the international conference “Modern Technologies in Medical Education”. A solemn meeting is scheduled for 16 December.

Employees and students of the university will be honored for achievements in educational, scientific, medical, international and social activities. Honored workers and veterans of the university will be honored as well.
