GRODNO, 18 January (BelTA) – The mobile application “Grodno guide” containing information about the city has been launched in Grodno and is already available for download, BelTA learned from head of the sport and tourism department of the Grodno City Hall Yevgeny Arod.

The application is free. It comes in three languages: Russian, Polish, and English. The app provides information about hundreds of sites in Grodno: from landmarks, theaters, museums and other places of interest to cafes, restaurants, hotels, currency exchange offices, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Grodno guide also offers a phrasebook as well as the map and schedule of public transport.

“Convenient and easy navigation and visualization of the sites will help Grodno visitors explore the city, without missing something interesting. The application will be updated, we will add new sites, facilities, and new functions,” Yevgeny Arod noted. He stressed that most of the functions of the application are available offline.

The app is designed for independent travelers. It will be useful for both foreign and domestic tourists.

The ongoing pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to the tourism sector throughout the globe. Grodno is using the downtime to develop new products that it will offer tourists after the pandemic. Entities of the tourism industry of Grodno received government support during the pandemic. For example, some hotels and travel agencies that specialize in inbound tourism were granted assistance in terms of rent and other types if support. In addition, the tourist fee in Grodno was reduced from 5% to 3%.
