MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection has launched the Belarus Green Awards 2020 competition of environmental startups, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.
The competition is timed to the 60th anniversary of the ministry. Its goal is to find relevant business ideas that can improve the environmental situation and the quality of life in Belarus. “The importance of environmental problems can hardly be overestimated. These problems affect the entire world and all spheres of life. Belarus Green Awards 2020 is a real opportunity for various eco-startups in our country to come into the spotlight,” the press service said.
Seven nominations were announced: manufacturing, technological solutions, foodstuffs, non-food products, household goods, cosmetics and services. The competition will be held in three stages. Applications can be sent till 1 August. The second stage begins on 10 August: 10 applications shortlisted for the semi-finals will be submitted for public voting on the internet. The presentation of projects before the jury will be held on 26 August. The jury will select three best environmental projects. Winners will be awarded on 29 August.
Each winner will get three prizes. The main prize is investment in the project that won the first place. In addition, the winning projects will receive intellectual investment and the opportunity to consult with leading business mentors. A special prize from the Brest Local Regional Development Fund will be presented to contestants from Brest and Brest Oblast.
There is no participation fee. Anyone can take part in the project by filling in an application on the website pasternak.by. Both individuals and legal entities are eligible to participate, however they should be from Belarus. The project should contribute to solving an environmental problem, be socially significant and innovative, and potential to succeed as a business project.
The competition is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Pas Ter Nak company and BelExpo National Exhibition Center.
