GRECO delegation in Belarus on 15-18 October

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – A delegation of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe is in Belarus on a working visit on 15-18 October, BelTA has learned.

The experts are set to evaluate whether Belarus meets anti-corruption standards of the Council of Europe. The program of the visit includes meetings with members of the National Assembly, representatives of the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Justice Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and educational institutions. On 15 October, the experts are set to meet with representatives of mass media.

The task of the delegation is to evaluate transparency of the legislative process and the state of affairs in terms of preventing corruption among MPs, judges, and staff of prosecutor's offices. The experts will study measures that Belarus takes to fight corruption in these areas. This is the fourth GRECO evaluation round for Belarus.

The delegation includes prosecutors, judges, and academia representatives from Spain, Russia, Croatia, and Estonia.
