GOMEL, 26 May (BelTA) - Russia's Bryansk Oblast and Belarus' Gomel Oblast have a great future in tourism cooperation, President of the Union of the Bryansk Oblast Chamber of Commerce and Industry Antonina Katyanina told the media during the panel discussion “Time to Travel – Studying Experience, building Prospects”, held as part of the 24th edition of the Spring in Gomel International Exhibition, BelTA has learned.
There are close trade, economic, cultural, scientific and sports ties between Bryansk Oblast and Gomel Oblast. Tourism has recently taken a prominent place in the bilateral cooperation. “The topic of domestic tourism for Russia and the topic of tourism cooperation with Russia for Belarus are equally relevant today. We have already outlined new projects, and are currently working on them,” Antonina Katyanina said.
“Tourism is not just about recreation. It means jobs. A large number of people are involved in this sector. For example, among educational institutions that join big projects there are such as Ekaterininsky Trakt,” she said.
“I am sure this area of cooperation has a very big future. Bryansk Oblast and Gomel Oblast are interested in this area to be further developed, to be a new trend for alignment,” the president of the union said.
She also stressed great prospects for close cooperation. “A lot of people in Belarus and Russia have seen and realized that there are things to see inside our countries, places to go, places to have a great time. Domestic tourism in both Russia and Belarus is now taking on a completely new meaning. It is a completely new trend. We are happy to be a part of this process,” Antonina Katyanina said.
“We have a lot of plans. I am sure that all of them will come true,” she concluded.
Attending the panel discussion are representatives of Belarus, Russia and Bulgaria. The list of topics discussed includes tourist potential of the regions, ways to promote tourism and boost opportunities, and others.
