FM: Belarus does not cause problems for its neighbors

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - Belarus pursues a peace-loving policy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media following the meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó and the session of the Belarusian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Minsk on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

At the same time, the minister drew attention to the alarming situation near the Belarusian border: “Financing for military needs and the number of armed forces near our borders is increasing, offensive weapons are purchased. The accelerated redeployment of NATO troops is underway.”

“Moreover, militants are trained on the territory of neighboring states, who publicly declare their intentions to use their experience to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in the Republic of Belarus. Of course, we are alarmed and concerned about these developments,” the minister said.

He emphasized: “We have never created problems for our neighbors. This is our principled position. We do not do it now, either.”

“Belarus is a peace-loving country,” Sergei Aleinik said. “We have enough of our own land. We are not going to attack anyone. But we will keep our powder dry.”
