First reading of Belarus' 2019 budget bill, revised Tax Code scheduled for 18 December

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The 2019 budget bill and the revised Tax Code will be given the first reading at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko warned against wasteful spending and mismanagement while planning the 2019 budget as he heard out a report on the final version of the draft Tax Code and the 2019 budget bill on 17 December.

The preliminary reading of the country's main financial documents took place on 17 December. Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the documents were drafted by the government with active involvement of MPs. They were later fine-tuned taking into account the instructions of the head of state.

During the preliminary reading, the heads of the working groups involved in drafting the Tax Code presented the results of their work. Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich informed the attendees about the main provisions of the 2019 budget.

After all reports were delivered, the MPs and representatives of corresponding ministries discussed the proposed bills. Taking part in the session were Prime Minister Sergei Rumas, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich, government members and senators.

As was reported earlier, three groups were involved in the work on amendments and addenda to the Tax Code: an inter-ministerial group at the Finance Ministry, a standing group at the Council of Ministers and an ad-hoc group at the Council of the Republic.
