Expert: Belarus' media space attacked from servers from 5-6 countries

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - The situation in Belarus is seriously distorted in the media space. A lot of information is injected from servers from five or six countries, including Ukraine, Great Britain, Singapore, and also the Baltics, said Ivan Surma, Professor at the State Administration and National Security Department with the Diplomacy Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, RIA Novosti reported.

“With regard to Belarus we see serious information misrepresentation. This strategic communications project was launched in the European Union. It was developed in the Pentagon at the beginning of the century. They are actively working to destabilize the situation with the help of information attacks, to bring it to the state of political singularity. How it will end is unclear,” Ivan Surma said during an online press conference.

According to the expert, there are a lot of information attacks. “An analysis showed that in Belarus information influence is generated by the same forces who attacked Russia as the country was dealing with the constitutional amendments, COVID. We see the same thing in Belarus now. We see the same attacks on the media space of Belarus. The servers are the same: Great Britain, Singapore, Ukraine, the Baltics and so on. All in all, 5 or 6 countries,” the political scientist said.

Poland and Lithuania are active actors, Ivan Surma noted. "Poland is a member of NATO. The alliance has the centers that are engaged in active information influence,” Ivan Surma said.
