MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The exhibition “The Elegance of Silver: Treasures of the Omani Court”, featuring items from the collection of the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman, will open at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus on 19 December, the Culture Ministry informed BelTA.

The exhibition will present some of the museum’s most striking and notable pieces, showcasing the richness of Oman’s historical and cultural heritage. Several thematic sections will introduce visitors to different facets of Omani culture, customs, and traditions.

On display will be exquisite works by Omani artisans, including ceremonial silver daggers, belts, amulets, jewelry, and other adornments. Crafted with extraordinary skill, these objects, regardless of their original function, carry metaphysical significance, embodying spiritual protection while uniting refined form with the inherent value of the precious metal.

Highlighting the unique role of silver in Omani history and culture, the National Art Museum pointed to its use in the traditional khanjar dagger production. This dagger appears on the Sultanate’s national emblem.

A substantial part of the exhibition is devoted to jewelry, while several pieces will also introduce visitors to the art of fragrance in Omani tradition.

“The Elegance of Silver: Treasures of the Omani Court” exhibition is the result of long-term cooperation between the National Art Museum of Belarus and the National Museum of Oman. This collaboration was previously marked by the successful 2019 exhibition “Oman: The Jewel of the East. Crafts Heritage,” which presented works by Omani artisans and stood as one of the largest displays of Oriental art ever held in Belarus.

The exhibition will remain open until 18 March 2026.
