Eurasian Media Congress due in Russia's Tver Oblast on 24-26 April

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – The 2nd Eurasian Media Congress will take place in the city of Konakovo, Tver Oblast, Russia, on 24-26 April, BelTA learned from the press center of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

Participating in the congress will be around 70 leading media representatives of the EDB member states and the Eurasian Economic Commission, senior managers of the bank, and experts. The congress will discuss challenges and possibilities of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the context of geo-economic uncertainty. The session will touch upon innovative instruments of the EAEU foreign trade policy, effects and the potential of trade and economic agreements between the EAEU and Vietnam, Iran, China, industrial cooperation development, and creation of Eurasian brands.

Panel discussions will focus on ways to use the EDB investment capacities in order to develop economy of the member states and “Eurasian business” and analyze the implementation of the EAEU Treaty signed five years ago. The discussions will also highlight the EAEU information agenda.

A conference of heads of Eurasian journalist unions will be held as part of the congress.

The 1st Eurasian Media Congress took place in Kazakhstan in September 2018. It discussed the coordination of macroeconomic policies, use of national currencies in mutual payments, investment cooperation of the EDB countries, and other topical matters of the EAEU agenda.

The Eurasian Development Bank is an international financial organization established by Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006 to promote the development of market economy of the member states, facilitate their stable economic growth, and improve mutual trade and economic relations. The EDB charter capital totals $7 billion. The member states include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
