Erdogan awards Belarusian rescue workers for earthquake relief assistance

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented a government award to Igor Zarembo, chief of the Belarusian special-operations rescue unit Zubr, in recognition of assistance with dealing with consequences of an earthquake, BelTA learned from an online broadcast of the award ceremony.

The award ceremony took place in the presidential palace in Ankara. Recep Tayyip Erdogan awarded commanding officers of foreign rescue units, who had participated in alleviating consequences of the devastating earthquakes that hit the country's south and southeast on 6 February, and the heads of the diplomatic missions of the countries, which had helped Türkiye in this time of need.

Igor Zarembo received a medal from the Turkish president while Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Türkiye Viktor Rybak received a letter of thanks signed by the Turkish minister of foreign affairs.
