Education process in Belarusian universities tailored to real sector needs

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The education process in higher education institutions has been tuned in strict compliance with needs of enterprises of the real sector of the Belarusian economy, BelTA learned from First Deputy Education Minister Aleksandr Bakhanovich.

Aleksandr Bakhanovich said: “As for the matter of practical orientation of our higher education, the higher education institutions coordinate curriculums with the organizations that want to employ the future graduates. As of today over 24,000 syllabuses and educational subjects have been reconciled. It means that our education process in higher education institutions is structured in strict compliance with needs of real sector enterprises and we take into account development trends of all the branches of our economy.”

In order to improve the practical orientation of educational processes, Belarusian higher education institutions closely interact with the organizations of the real sector of the economy that order the training of the relevant personnel. In 2022 Belarusian universities signed over 550 agreements on cooperation with the organizations that want specific personnel trained. There are a total of over 2,700 agreements at present. The number does not include employer-sponsored education contracts, the first deputy education minister clarified.

In 2022 Belarusian higher education institutions signed over 2,800 employer-sponsored education contracts. A total of about 10,000 contracts are now in effect. “In other words, out of the total number of our students about 10,000 ones are being taught in accordance with employer-sponsored education contracts,” Aleksandr Bakhanovich said.

In 2022 as many as 80 new branches of departments of higher education institutions were established at Belarusian high-tech enterprises, in organizations, and institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. A total of 1,069 branches like that operate in organizations of the economy and the social sphere.

Over 70 labs have been established in Belarusian universities in association with the world's leading companies. Ten education centers of the world's leading companies operate in Belarusian universities. Students of medical higher education institutions are trained at 126 clinical education departments in healthcare institutions. Last academic year over 64,000 students went through internship in the organizations that had ordered their training. A total of over 190,000 Belarusian students went through internship.
