EAEU launches Traveling without COVID project

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin briefed the members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on the launch of the pilot project “Traveling without COVID”, BelTA learned from TASS.

“We have reached the stage where we should agree on solutions that will make a lot of economic and technological processes easier. The EAEU is piloting the project Traveling without COVID,” the Russian prime minister said. According to him, this is a digital document proving that its holder has tested negative for the coronavirus. Mikhail Mishustin believes that using this app will help ensure free and safe movement of people and reduce the risk of the disease spread.

Speaking about the EAEU digital agenda in general, the Russian prime minister stressed that this aspect has risen in importance amid the coronavirus spread and the restrictions associated with it. In this situation, digital technologies can ensure operation of crucial sectors, he noted.

“Digital integration is becoming the key factor in creating the common economic space and the common infrastructure, using the principle of a network without unnecessary intermediaries and barriers,” Mikhail Mishustin said.

According to him, the EAEU digital transformation provides for launching large-scale joint projects in key sectors aimed at ensuring free movement of capital, workforce, goods, and so on. He added that he meant industrial initiatives, digital transport corridors, and e-commerce development.
