EAEU discusses measures to prevent spread of new coronavirus

MOSCOW, 28 January (BelTA) – The council of heads of sanitary-epidemiological welfare services of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states discussed a set of measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the EAEU territory on 27 January. The session also featured representatives of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

“Chairperson of the council, Head of the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), and Russia's Chief State Sanitary Physician Anna Popova said that Russian scientists have developed test kits for laboratory diagnosis of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus. If needed Russia is ready to provide these test kits to the EAEU member states. Rospotrebnadzor is ready to make its laboratory facilities available to its EAEU colleagues and allow them to analyze any amount of samples that could be used to help diagnose this dangerous disease,” the EEC said.

Rospotrebnadzor publishes daily updates about the spread of the new coronavirus in China on its website.

“Members of the council intend to hold such sessions on a regular basis,” the press service added.
