Defense Ministry responds to criticism about medical treatment of Russian military personnel

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Providing medical aid to injured people is a universally recognized norm, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Minister's Aide for Ideology, Major-General Leonid Kasinsky.

Leonid Kasinsky said that Ukraine periodically tries to criticize the Republic of Belarus for providing medical aid to injured personnel of the Russian army. “First of all, providing aid to injured and sick people is a universally recognized human norm,” he said. Leonid Kasinsky quoted Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who had said: “We treat them and will continue treating these guys – in Gomel, Mozyr, and I think in some other district capital when they are transported to us. What's wrong with that? Injured people have always received medical treatment during any war.”

Leonid Kasinsky told Ukrainians, who accuse Belarusians of absolutely sensible and humane treatment of injured people, that Ukrainian officers of the defense attache's office, the ambassador, and diplomats of the Ukrainian embassy as well as their families have been getting and continue getting medical aid in the Central Military Medicine Center of the Armed Forces of Belarus since 2012. “They don't shy away from getting aid from Belarusian army medics,” Leonid Kasinsky stressed.
