MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - An event to mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held in Tashkent on 1 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov, and Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, the head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District, who addressed the audience with welcoming words.
The program featured a concert of amateur arts teams of the Belarusian and Russian diasporas in Uzbekistan, a tasting of dishes of national cuisines and a show of national costumes. The event was attended by Belarusian and Russian diplomats, activists of the Belarusian cultural center Svitanak in Tashkent and Russian ethno-cultural organizations, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the media.
