Customs services of Belarus, Uzbekistan agree to facilitate bilateral trade

MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – During the official visit of the Belarusian president to Uzbekistan, intergovernmental agreements to facilitate bilateral trade and to cooperate in customs matters were signed, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee.

The agreement on facilitation of bilateral trade sets forth the major principles of information exchange regarding the movement of goods and vehicles in line with technical requirements to information exchange between the customs services of the two countries, as well as standards and recommendations of the United Nations, the World Customs Organization and national laws of the two countries.

The agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters specifies the algorithm of actions while exchanging information needed to detect, prevent and investigate customs violations.

“The implementation of these agreements will help unify and harmonize customs procedures and will have a positive impact on the fulfillment of tasks facing the customs authorities of the two states,” the State Customs Committee noted.
