MOSCOW, 29 December (BelTA) - The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are planning to hold consultations on biological security, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov told BelTA following the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council on 29 December.
“The Permanent Council discussed the issue of holding consultations of experts of interested departments of the CSTO member states on the development of relevant documents on biological security,” the spokesman informed.
The main focus of the meeting was on the draft action plan to implement the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council session held on 2 December and the implementation of priority areas proposed by Tajikistan for the period of the CSTO presidency. “It was decided to submit the document to the ministries of foreign affairs of the CSTO member states,” the spokesman said.
The meeting also continued discussing draft political statements on combating terrorism, banning the development and production of new types of weapons of mass destruction, efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, and ensuring comprehensive stability in the world. “Work on these draft documents will continue at the next meetings of the CSTO Permanent Council in 2021,” the spokesman added.
This year's last meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council was held via videoconference under the chairmanship of Tajikistan's Permanent Representative Hasan Sultonov. CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas also participated in the event.
