Comprehensive development strategy suggested for Belarus' tourism industry

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – The interdepartmental expert coordinating council for tourism at the Council of Ministers had a meeting on 6 February to consider the proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the comprehensive national strategy (concept) for the developmnet of the domestic tourism industry, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas laid out the idea of the strategy and the areas of its possible application to the members of the council.

Currently the tourism industry relies on the state program “Hospitable Belarus” designed to run in 2016-2020.

The main idea of the strategy is to maximize the catalytic and multiplying impact of the integrated development of the tourist industry on the development of related industries and socio-economic infrastructure of the country.

Engaging the potential and pooling the resources and capacities of a wide range of partners (ministries and departments, local authorities, private business, international partners and investors) around Belarus' obvious tourist advantages and attractions will increase the country's visibility in the world and will contribute to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, economic, transport and social infrastructure, jobs, and investment.
