
MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – Minsk hosted the CIS ministerial consultations on arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation on 1 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Taking part in the consultations were representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee.
The parties had a constructive and engaged discussion, exchanged views on a wide range of issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, including the prevention of an arms race in outer space, cooperation with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, biological security, the military and political dimension of the OSCE and conventional arms control in Europe.
The participants of the discussion outlined ways to step up cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
